The stamps of the Free Territory of Trieste B zone
In 1947 the territory of Trieste was divided into two zones: A and B.
A Zone‚ which included Trieste‚ its hinterland and the coast up to Duino‚ administered by the Allied Military Government; B Zone‚ which included Istria‚ administered by the Government of the Yugoslavian Army.
Both administrations used specific stamps: the Italian ones overprinted AMG-FTT for zone A and the Yugoslavian ones overprinted or with the wording STT-VUJNA for zone B.
In 1954 what was supposed to be temporary‚ pending an agreement‚ became definitive and zone A returned to Italy while zone B remained to Yugoslavia‚ as a result‚ the respective national stamps without distinctive elements were adopted.
